AN EXCITING DEVELOPMENT

The current campus in Daun Penh is adequate for our requirements for this year and the 2008 / 2009 school year but not for the years after these. We were hoping that a second campus in this area would be available for us. However, the property market is changing rapidly and we doubt that we would find a suitably sized campus for the rental that our fees allow us to pay.

We have been offered a new campus in Boeng Keng Kang 3.

IMPLICATIONS

Most of our E.S.L. students live in or near the Daun Penh area and most attend national schools when they are not attending East-West. It did not seem right to ask these students to move and we also wanted to continue to teach these students as we have built up good relationships with them and are enjoying them and the progress they are making.

For these reasons, we have decided that East-West English School, will continue to operate at the current campus. East-West General Education School will move to the new campus.

EAST-WEST ENGLISH SCHOOL

This school will have its own administrative. We are delighted that Mr. Larry Iannucci will lead and develop this new school which will focus on bringing the best E.S.L. teaching to our students. Mr. Larry has been teaching our older E.S.L. students for nearly two years. He is a trained E.S.L. teacher who is an American. He has had experience in both marketing and management.

The teachers will be English first language speakers who can teach in creative ways and who will encourage the students to listen, speak, and write. Comprehension will also be a vital part of the program.

This school will keep the name East-West for about 6 months when it will introduce its own name to reflect the goals and vision of this school.

EAST-WEST GENERAL EDUCATION SCHOOL

East-West General Education School will move to the new campus. School at this campus will commence in September, 2008. Eventually, it will cater to students from Pre-School to Year 12. In the 2008 / 2009 school year, Grade 6 will be added.
The new facility was purposely built as an education facility so the class rooms are a good size. The play area is a reasonable size and is airy. A basketball / badminton / volleyball court will be made on the roof of the second building. A swimming pool will be built behind the second building.

Pre-School students will enjoy a separate area for the class rooms, for play and for the toilets.

There will be no E.S.L. classes at the new campus.

Almost all of the classes will finish at 2:30pm. This means that we will be able to offer after school classes from 2:30 – 3:30pm. These may include Chinese, French, swimming, basketball, chess, dancing, music etc. depending on the demand from the students. These will have to be funded separately from the school fees so that there will be an additional cost for parents to cover salaries, and for the use of the facilities. These will be offered over a ten week term and will not be compulsory.

Mrs. Sandra Chipps will remain as principal of East-West International School.
