Message from the Principal

East-West has completed five years. Our first classes were in September 2006.

In this school year 2011 / 2012 we are offering a general education program for children from 2 years to 14 years. This is Nursery to Grade 9. We plan to have a complete program from Nursery to Grade 12 in the school year 2014 / 2015.

Teachers are a critical component in a good school and East-West has competent, caring and, for the most part, trained teachers. Our teachers are English first language speakers.

For the 2011 / 2012 school year our grade teachers come from the USA ( 10), Australia (5), England (1), France (1), Philippines (1), Belgium (1), and Switzerland (1).

As we are a bilingual school we have Cambodian class assistants who also teach Khmer.

East-West is equipping students for the future. Our students are thinkers, children who can apply information, and who engage in enquiry.

We have an emphasis on reading as this is the single most important skill that children need. Children are encouraged to enjoy reading, to process information, and to creatively and constructively think. Children who read, very often do well academically.

East-West is character based and all our staff models respect. Children are encouraged to be kind and thoughtful – to build others up rather than pull them down. They are encouraged to see themselves as part of a community. All children, all people, make mistakes. These mistakes are opportunities to learn and change. Experiences with kindness and good discipline help students to mature.

We are an excellent school and I am delighted to be part of it. The children are wonderful to teach and the parents supportive.

Mrs. Sandra Chipps
