“The Commission took action to provide East-West school with Candidacy Status on the occasion of our late April (2011) Commission Meeting. … As I'm sure you'll see from the report, you're to be congratulated for making such profound progress in providing a high quality educational experience for your students. Best wishes. Dave Brown”
(David Brown is the Executive Director of WASC).
WASC’s primary focus is to look for evidence that our students are learning. To do that the school examines, by way of a self-study, its organisation, its curriculum, its teaching, student progress, school facilities etc. This involves the whole school community – teachers, staff, parents and students.
The school is visited by a WASC Committee of Educators who validate the school’s findings. This will happen in 2013.
WASC is an ongoing cyclical process. The process does not end when the visit ends.
It is an excellent process and benefits all involved.
